SLAF CONTRIBUTES TO JOINT MARITIME OPERATIONS AT TRINEX-25
The SLAF participated in the Trincomalee Naval Exercise 2025 (TRINEX-25), held from 22 to 26 July 2025 at the Port of Trincomalee and in the eastern seas. Conducted in collaboration with the Sri Lanka Navy, the exercise focused on enhancing coordination in joint maritime operations and improving operational readiness in a multi-domain environment.
Air Force participation included the deployment of the No. 3 Maritime Squadron, No. 4 Helicopter Squadron, and No. 7 Helicopter Squadron. These units were engaged in several key aspects of the exercise, including maritime surveillance, helicopter operations for Visit, Board, Search, and Seizure (HVBSS), vertical replenishment (VERTREP), Search and Rescue (SAREX), and casualty evacuation (CASEVAC) drills. The involvement of these squadrons contributed to the successful execution of the air component of TRINEX-25.
At the closing ceremony held aboard SLNS Sindurala today (27 July 2025) the Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Kanchana Banagoda, acknowledged the support of the SLAF and presented commemorative mementos to the participating squadrons in appreciation of their contribution to the exercise.
