FLYING INSTRUCTORS’ WORKSHOP 2025 CONCLUDES SUCCESSFULLY AT SLAF ACADEMY CHINA BAY
The Flying Instructors’ Workshop for the year 2025 commenced under the patronage of the Commander of the Air Force, Air Marshal Bandu Edirisinghe and was conducted with the guidance of the Director General Air Operations, Air Vice Marshal Deshapriya Silva and the Director General Training, Air Vice Marshal Dammika Dias.
The workshop was organized and held at No. 1 Flying Training Wing, SLAF Academy, China Bay, on 01 and 02 August 2025. The event featured constructive discussions among instructors representing the Fighter, Transport and Helicopter Streams. Additionally, interactive sessions were conducted to strengthen mutual understanding and collaboration among SLAF flying instructors.
The Commander of the Air Force graced the occasion as the Chief Guest and addressed the gathering of instructors, emphasizing the vital role and responsibilities of a Flying Instructor in the modern landscape of military aviation, particularly in meeting contemporary challenges.
A keynote lecture on the topic "Self-awareness and Motivation" was delivered by the guest speaker, Mr. Shakya Nanayakkara, marking the commencement of the workshop.
Throughout the workshop, key matters related to training and operational flying were thoroughly discussed. The Commander himself actively engaged with the instructors, addressing concerns and proposing solutions to ensure the maintenance of the highest standards of flying within the Sri Lanka Air Force.
