The Commander of the Air Force, Air Marshal Bandu Edirisinghe conducted the Commander's Inspection of SLAF Station Katukurunda today (05 August 2025). The Commanding Officer of the Station, Group Captain MP Abeywickrama received the Commander on his arrival.

During the inspection, the Commander toured all areas of the station, which include direct operational support, administrative support and research development entities.
At the conclusion of the inspection, the Commander awarded Certificates of Commendation to the following personnel in recognition of their exceptional contributions to both the Station and the Air Force as a whole.

Corporal Karunarathne AS (Operations Ground I)

The Commander addressed all personnel at the Station, including civilians and emphasized that the SLAF Station Katukurunda serves as the main aeronautical research entity within the SLAF. Finally, the Commander commended the Commanding Officer and his team for their hard work in preparing the Station to the standard expected at a Commanders Inspection.
