RESEARCH AND DEVELOPMENT WING AT SLAF BASE KATUNAYAKE CELEBRATES 10TH ANNIVERSARY

The Research and Development Wing at SLAF Base Katunayake commemorated its 10th anniversary yesterday (05 August 2025), marking a significant milestone in its decade-long journey of innovation and progress. Established in 2015, the Wing has consistently spearheaded initiatives aimed at enhancing the indigenous research and development capabilities of the SLAF.

Over the past ten years, the Wing has played a pivotal role in improving the operational efficiency of the SLAF through numerous successful research projects. These endeavours have made substantial contributions to the technological advancement and self-reliance of the Air Force.

The anniversary celebrations included a customary working parade, a tree-planting programme within the Wing premises and a friendly cricket match held at the SLAF Hospital Ground.

In the lead-up to the main celebration, a Shramadana campaign was conducted on 04 August 2025 at the Lakshmi Children’s Home in Katunayake. An almsgiving was also held as part of the community outreach activities. These events were successfully organized with the dedicated support and active participation of the all officers and all other ranks of the Wing.

Sri Lanka Air Force stands as the sole gallant aerial force in the nation, skillfully projecting airpower over its airspace and supporting the operations of surface entities.
