NO. 02 BASIC FIGHTER CONTROLLERS’ COURSE CONCLUDES AT SLAF STATION MIRIGAMA
The closing ceremony of the No. 02 Basic Fighter Controllers’ Course was held yesterday (06 August 2025) at the Air Defence Command and Control Centre (ADC&CC), SLAF Station Mirigama, marking a significant milestone in enhancing the capabilities of the National Air Defence System (NADS) in Sri Lanka.
The event was graced by the Director General Air Operations, Air Vice Marshal Deshapriya Silva, who attended as the Chief Guest. Also present were the Director Air Traffic Services, Air Commodore Prabath Dissanayake, Director Capital Welfare Projects, Air Commodore Sanath Fernando, Director Air Defence, Group Captain Vajira Jayakody and several other distinguished officers.
The 15-week course commenced on 05 May 2025 and concluded on 06 August 2025. A total of six officers participated in the course, undergoing both theoretical and practical evaluations.
Squadron Leader Tharaka Bakmeedeniya was adjudged the Best All-Round Officer of the course.
The Basic Fighter Controllers’ Course (BFCC) is designed to impart fundamental theoretical and practical knowledge in air defence and to develop the critical skills required for newly inducted officers to perform duties as Fighter Controllers. These officers are expected to play a pivotal role in strengthening the National Air Defence System in the years ahead.
