SPORTS FIESTA 2025 STRENGTHENS CAMARADERIE

The Headquarters Officers’ Sports Fiesta 2025 was successfully conducted yesterday (28 August 2025) at Riffle Green Grounds, Colombo with the participation of a large gathering of officers. The event was graced by the Commander of the Air Force, Air Marshal Bandu Edirisinghe, as the Chief Guest. The Chief of Staff, Air Vice Marshal Lasitha Sumanaweera and the Deputy Chief of Staff, Air Vice Marshal Demian Weerasinghe, attended as Guests of Honour.

Three houses, namely Sky Hawks, Aerial Strikers and Wing Warriors, competed in cricket and netball for the championships. The Wing Warriors, led by Air Vice Marshal Gihan Senviratne, won the Cricket Championship Trophy, while the Aerial Strikers, led by Air Vice Marshal Deshapriya Silva, secured the Netball Championship. The Sky Hawks, under the leadership of Air Vice Marshal (Dr) Lalith Jayaweera, also delivered notable performances during the fiesta.

The event was attended by the members of the Air Force Board of Management, together with all officers serving at Air Force Headquarters and SLAF Station Sri Jayewardenepura. 

Sri Lanka Air Force stands as the sole gallant aerial force in the nation, skillfully projecting airpower over its airspace and supporting the operations of surface entities.
