SLAF ACADEMY CHINA BAY COMMEMORATES FALLEN HEROES

In keeping with tradition, SLAF Academy China Bay held religious observances in commemoration of the nineteen Sri Lanka Air Force personnel who lost their lives in the tragic explosion at the Armory Section of the Academy on 21 January 1992.

A night-long Pirith chanting ceremony was conducted yesterday (19 September 2025), invoking blessings for the eternal repose of the fallen war heroes and for the protection and wellbeing of all serving members of the Air Force.

An almsgiving ceremony in honor of the venerable Maha Sangha was held today (20 September 2025), continuing the customary practice of merit-making. The event was attended by Commandant of SLAF Academy China Bay, Air Commodore Amal Perera, along with officers, other ranks and civilian staff of the Academy.

Sri Lanka Air Force stands as the sole gallant aerial force in the nation, skillfully projecting airpower over its airspace and supporting the operations of surface entities.
