ANNUAL COMMANDER’S INSPECTION AT SLAF STATION MIRIGAMA
The Commander of the Air Force, Air Marshal Bandu Edirisinghe, conducted the annual Commander’s Inspection at SLAF Station Mirigama today (03 October 2025). The Commander was warmly welcomed on arrival by the Commanding Officer of SLAF Station Mirigama, Group Captain Thushara Bandara.
During the inspection, the Commander visited several key areas, including the Station Headquarters, the Air Defence Command and Control Centre, the Officers’ Mess and various other sections of the Station. The inspection concluded with an All Ranks Lunch held at the Airmen’s Mess.
As part of the inspection, several infrastructure improvements were completed at the Station. These included the expansion and refurbishment of Air Defence Operations Center at Air Defence Command & Control Centre as an Additional & Improvement Project, construction of the prefabricated billet for the Water Project at Giriulla, construction of the prefabricated billet for Land Based Air Defence personnel, construction of a new Duty Officer Rest Room, the opening of the Juice Bar, renovation of the Officers’ Mess Bar and the building of a standard Saluting Dais.
At the conclusion of the inspection, the Commander awarded a Certificate of Commendation to an individual in recognition of his exceptional service.

The Commander also addressed all ranks and civilian employees during his visit.
In his speech, he highlighted the strategic importance of the Air Defence Command and Control Centre, emphasizing its critical role as the nerve centre of national air defence.
In closing, the Commander commended the Commanding Officer and his team for their dedication and efforts in maintaining the high standards expected at a Commander’s Inspection.
