COMMANDER’S INSPECTION AT SLAF STATION WEERAWILA
The Commander of the Air Force, Air Marshal Bandu Edirisinghe, conducted the Commander’s Inspection at SLAF Station Weerawila today (06 October 2025). Commander of the Air Force was warmly received by the Commanding Officer, Group Captain Nirup Wanasinghe.
The Commander reviewed the Commander’s Inspection Parade, which was commanded by the Commanding Officer. During the parade a Certificate of Commendation was awarded to the Warrant Officer KK Neranjan (Operations Ground SP I) in recognition of his exceptional contribution to SLAF Station Weerawila.
During the inspection, the Commander visited all key areas of the Station including the Station Headquarters, No. 41 Regiment Wing, No. 03 Air Defence Radar Squadron, Sports Section, Main Guard Room, MI Room, Airmen and Airwomen Billets, Welfare Shop Complex, MT Section, Eagle’s Cafe, Social Clubs and the VVIP Lounge. A tree-planting ceremony was also held at the newly established No. 63 Intelligence Wing.
Further, the Commander addressed all Officers, Other Ranks and Civilian Personnel expressing his sincere appreciation to the Commanding Officer and his team for their tireless dedication and hard work.
After completing the inspection at SLAF Station Weerawila, the Commander of the Air Force visited SLAF Detachment Mattala and Commander was warmly welcomed by the Officer Commanding, Wing Commander Prabath Molligoda. During the visit, the Commander inspected the land identified for the proposed establishment of a new Air Base. He commended the personnel for their commitment to upholding discipline, professionalism and high standards noting that such efforts significantly strengthen the reputation of the Sri Lanka Air Force and contribute to the nation’s progress.
