SLAF CONDUCTS TRAINING AND DEVELOPMENT WORKSHOP FOR PRESCHOOL TEACHERS
A two-day Training and Development Workshop for Sri Lanka Air Force preschool teachers was successfully held on 04 and 05 October 2025 at the SLAF Trade Training School, Ekala. The programme aimed to enhance educators’ professional skills using modern, play-based, and STREAM-aligned teaching methodologies, in line with the latest government reforms in early childhood education.
The first day featured interactive activities promoting creativity, teamwork and peer learning, conducted in collaboration with Giggles International Montessori under the guidance of Dr. Thushari Koralage, SLAF Technical Advisor for Preschools. Mrs. Savini Tennakoon, Acting Principal of Asian Grammar School and Giggles International Montessori, delivered a lecture on assessing preschool children. The second day focused on government expectations and included sessions on singing, dancing, and body percussion to boost classroom engagement.
The Closing Ceremony was graced by Chairperson of the SLAF Seva Vanitha Unit, Mrs. Krishanthi Edirisinghe, as Chief Guest. Distinguished invitees included Director General Welfare, Air Vice Marshal Rajinth Jayawardena, Director Internal and Public Welfare, Air Commodore Sulochana Marapperuma, and Commanding Officer SLAF Trade Training School Ekala, Air Commodore Kolitha Abeysinghe, alongside representatives from the Department of Education – Western Province.
