FIRST MYANMAR–SRI LANKA AIR FORCE AIR STAFF TALKS STRENGTHEN BILATERAL COOPERATION
The First Myanmar Air Force–Sri Lanka Air Force Air Staff Talks were successfully held from 14 to 16 October 2025 in Yangon, Myanmar, with Myanmar serving as the host nation. The SLAF delegation was led by Director General Planning, Air Vice Marshal Deshapriya Silva, while the Myanmar delegation was headed by Major General Myo Aung Latt, Deputy Chief of Staff (Air) (Mechanical) of the Tatmadaw (Air).
The SLAF delegation also included the Commanding Officer of No. 45 VIP/VVIP Wing, Group Captain Samila Darmawardene and the Commanding Officer of No. 5 Fighter Jet Squadron, Wing Commander Malinga Senanayake. The discussions focused on strengthening bilateral relations and enhancing cooperation in the fields of military training, education, and sports. At the conclusion of the talks, both sides signed the agreed meeting resolutions, reaffirming their commitment to advancing collaboration and mutual understanding between the two air forces.
Prior to the commencement of the Air Staff Talks, the SLAF delegation paid a courtesy call on the Sri Lankan Ambassador to Myanmar, Her Excellency Prabashini Ponnamperuma. The meeting provided an opportunity to exchange views on the importance of defence diplomacy and further strengthening bilateral relations between the two nations.
