SLAF EDGES OUT ARMY IN A THRILLING SEASON OPENER

The Air Force Men’s Rugby team opened their season with a thriller win against Army SC at Ratmalana today (15 November 2025) during the Maliban Sri Lanka Inter Club Rugby League 2025/26, 1 week match.

The match opened with the first blood drawn by the Air Force during the first 10 minutes of the game. The soldiers countered with a try of their own and came to a dominating position at the end of the first half with 10 points to Air Force and 12 points to Army at halftime .

The Air Force team came with a renewed plan, focus and determination for the second half of the game and utilized the full potential of their forwards and backs in a synchronized combination to take the lead and finally seal the game at 24 points under their belt against 19 points by Army SC.

Star Scorers for Air Force were national player Shamika Kaushan with two tries, Maleesha Weerakoon with one try and Gayantha Iddamalgoda with three conversions and a penalty.

The Air Force team is scheduled to play against Police SC on 21 November 2025 at Police Park.
