CHANGE OF COMMAND OF SLAF BASE KATUNAYAKE

The Change of Command of Sri Lanka Air Force Base Katunayake was held  yesterday (17 November 2025). The traditional Handing Over/Taking Over Parade took place at the Base, during which the outgoing Base Commander, Air Commodore AV Jayasekera WWV and Bar, RWP, RSP and two Bar, USP, fawc (Pak), psc, qfi, officially handed over command to Air Commodore JMDRAP Jayamaha USP, ndc, psc, qfi. Air Commodore AV Jayasekera will be proceeding to his next appointment Military Advisor to the permanent Mission of Sri Lanka to the United Nations in New York, the USA.

The new Base Commander, Air Commodore JMDRAP Jayamaha, assumed office following the completion of the traditional Handing Over/Taking Over Parade. Air Commodore Jayamaha had successfully completed his previous tenure as the Base Commander at Sri Lanka Air Force Base Ratmalana before being appointed to command SLAF Base Katunayake.

Sri Lanka Air Force stands as the sole gallant aerial force in the nation, skillfully projecting airpower over its airspace and supporting the operations of surface entities.
