COMMANDER OF THE AIR FORCE VISITS INDIAN AIRCRAFT CARRIER INS VIKRANT

The Commander of the Air Force, Air Marshal Bandu Edirisinghe visited the Indian Navy’s aircraft carrier INS Vikrant at the Colombo Harbour today (26 November 2025). Hon. Minister of Health and Mass Media, Dr. Nalinda Jayatissa graced the occasion as the Chief Guest. The Indian High Commissioner to Sri Lanka, His Excellency Santosh Jha and the Commanding Officer of the vessel, Captain Ashok Rao, received the distinguished invitees.

Deputy Minister of Defence, Major General Aruna Jayasekara (Retd) and Secretary to the Ministry of Defence, Air Vice Marshal Sampath Thuyacontha (Retd) were also present, together with the Commanders of SL Army and Navy, officials of the Indian High Commission and senior officers of the armed forces.

The Commanding Officer delivered an introduction to the ship and subsequently accompanied the guests on a tour of the vessel.

INS Vikrant, an indigenously built Indian aircraft carrier, arrived in Sri Lanka to participate in the SL Navy’s International Fleet Review 2025, scheduled to be held on 30 November 2025.

Sri Lanka Air Force stands as the sole gallant aerial force in the nation, skillfully projecting airpower over its airspace and supporting the operations of surface entities.
