PRESIDENT REVIEWS SLAF RESCUE AND RELIEF OPERATIONS AT AIR FORCE HQ
The President, His Excellency, Anura Kumara Dissanayake, visited the Air Force Headquarters yesterday (28 November 2025), where he remained overnight to personally monitor and guide the SLAF’s ongoing rescue and humanitarian relief operations across affected regions.
The Secretary to the Ministry of Defence, Air Vice Marshal Sampath Thuyacontha was in attendance, extending full support to the coordinated national response. The Commander of the Air Force, Air Marshal Bandu Edirisinghe along with all key heads of directorates and responsible SLAF authorities, participated in the discussions and provided detailed operational updates to the President.
SLAF operational stakeholders briefed the President on the prevailing situation, ongoing rescue missions, deployment of aircraft and emergency response teams, air evacuation operations and the distribution of essential relief supplies to affected communities.
The President reviewed the operational plans, engaged with SLAF leadership on ground-level challenges and issued directives aimed at further strengthening the nationwide rescue and relief effort.
