IL-76 IAF AIRCRAFT ARRIVES IN SRI LANKA WITH NDRF TEAM AND DISASTER RELIEF SUPPLIES

An IL-76 aircraft of the Indian Air Force (IAF) landed in Sri Lanka today (29 November 2025), carrying 80 personnel from the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) including four females, along with four sniffer dogs. The aircraft also brought essential disaster relief supplies and rescue equipment to support ongoing operations.

The team, led by Commandant Praveen Kumar Tiwari of the 8th Battalion, was welcomed by the Chief of Staff of the Sri Lanka Air Force, Air Vice Marshal Lasitha Sumanaweera, upon arrival.

The NDRF personnel have arrived to assist in relief efforts in the affected areas. 

Sri Lanka Air Force stands as the sole gallant aerial force in the nation, skillfully projecting airpower over its airspace and supporting the operations of surface entities.
