ANOTHER IAF MI-17V5 HELICOPTER ARRIVES IN SRI LANKA TO SUPPORT ONGOING RECOVERY EFFORTS

Another MI-17V5 helicopter of the Indian Air Force (IAF) arrived in Sri Lanka today (09 December 2025) to further support the ongoing recovery efforts in disaster-affected areas.

The helicopter, captained by Wing Commander Nagesh Kumar, carried an 11-member team along with essential Humanitarian Assistance and Disaster Relief (HADR) materials to reinforce relief activities on the ground.

This deployment strengthens the collaborative efforts between the Sri Lanka Air Force and the Indian Air Force as both nations continue to assist communities impacted by the disaster.

Upon arrival at SLAF Base Katunayake, the contingent was received by SLAF officials and representatives from the Indian High Commission to Sri Lanka.

Sri Lanka Air Force stands as the sole gallant aerial force in the nation, skillfully projecting airpower over its airspace and supporting the operations of surface entities.
