DISASTER RELIEF CONSIGNMENT ARRIVES AT SLAF BASE ANURADHAPURA WITH US AND UNOPS SUPPORT
The Ambassador of the United States of America to Sri Lanka, Her Excellency Julie Chung, together with Director UNOPS South Asia, Mr. Charles Callanan, visited Sri Lanka Air Force Base Anuradhapura yesterday (12 December 2025) aboard a United States Air Force C-130 aircraft. Upon arrival, the delegation was received by the Base Commander, Air Commodore Pradeep Piyaratne.
The C-130 aircraft delivered a consignment of essential disaster relief equipment, including generators, water pumps, water storage tanks, rescue tools, and emergency food supplies. These items are intended to support ongoing disaster response efforts in the North Central Province, which has been affected by recent adverse conditions.
The logistical support provided by the United States Air Force through C-130 operations helps SLAF Base Anuradhapura facilitate disaster response and humanitarian relief activities in the region.
