SLAF CONTRIBUTES TO RENOVATION OF DAMAGED STEPS AT MAHAGIRIDABAYA EN ROUTE TO ADAMS PEAK

The SLAF extended its support to restore damaged steps in the Mahagiridabaya area, located along the sacred route to Adams Peak, following extensive damage caused by Cyclone Ditwa.

A total of 121 SLAF service personnel from SLAF Base Katunayake, SLAF Base Ratmalana, SLAF Station Sri Jayewardenepura and SLAF Combat Training School Diyatalawa actively participated in the renovation programme, which was successfully carried out today (31 December 2025).

Several sections of the Mahagiridabaya pathway had suffered significant damage due to adverse weather conditions, creating difficulties for pilgrims travelling to Adams Peak. Recognizing the importance of ensuring safe passage for devotees, SLAF personnel undertook the task of repairing and renovating the damaged steps with dedication and teamwork.

In addition to restoration work, the transportation of raw materials required for the renovation was also carried out by SLAF personnel under challenging terrain conditions.
