AIR FORCE COMMANDER CONDUCTS SPECIAL INSPECTION OF CHILDREN’S WARD CONSTRUCTION AT APEKSHA HOSPITAL

The Commander of the Air Force, Air Marshal Bandu Edirisinghe, conducted a special inspection today (29 January 2026) of the ongoing construction of the new Children’s Ward Complex at Maharagama Apeksha Hospital.

The five-storey building is being constructed under the financial sponsorship of Mr. Indra Kumara Silva, Founder and Chairman of the Indra Traders Group, with construction supervision and manpower support provided by the Sri Lanka Air Force.

Upon completion, the building will span approximately 50,000 square feet and will comprise two residential wards with facilities to accommodate 80 patients. The complex will also include a Pediatric Intensive Care Unit and a Pediatric Outpatient Chemotherapy Unit, contributing to the enhancement of paediatric cancer treatment services at the hospital.

During the special inspection, the Air Force Commander observed the progress of construction and highlighted the importance of maintaining required standards and completing the project within the scheduled timeframe, in support of the hospital’s ongoing development.
