SLAF BASE VAVUNIYA CONDUCTS RELIGIOUS PROGRAMME IN VIEW OF THE FORTHCOMING 75TH ANNIVERSARY

In line with the religious observances conducted in view of the forthcoming 75th Anniversary of the Sri Lanka Air Force, an all-night Pirith Chanting Ceremony followed by an almsgiving was held at SLAF Base Vavuniya on 30 and 31 January 2026, under the guidance of the Base Commander, Air Commodore Prasanna Kuruwita.

The religious programme commenced with a formal procession, during which the sacred Karaduwa (reliquary) was ceremonially escorted to SLAF Base Vavuniya. Thereafter, the sacred relic was respectfully placed at the beautifully decorated Pirith Mandapaya by the Base Commander. The chanting of Pirith continued throughout the night, creating an atmosphere of serenity, reflection and spiritual enrichment within the Base premises.

On the following day, almsgiving was offered to the Maha Sangha, invoking blessings for the continued progress, prosperity and success of the SLAF. The Base Commander, along with officers and other ranks of SLAF Base Vavuniya, participated in the religious activities, marking the occasion with reverence and devotion.

Sri Lanka Air Force stands as the sole gallant aerial force in the nation, skillfully projecting airpower over its airspace and supporting the operations of surface entities.
