SLAF WON GOLD AWARD IN BEST ANNUAL REPORT AND ACCOUNTS (BARA) AWARDS CEREMONY 2025 FOR EXCELLENCE IN PUBLIC SECTOR FINANCIAL REPORTING
The Association of Public Finance Accountants of Sri Lanka (APFASL) which is the Public Sector Wing of Institute of Chartered Accountants of Sri Lanka (CA Sri Lanka) showcased the pinnacle of public sector financial reporting excellence with the announcement of winners of the 09th Best Annual Report and Accounts (BARA) Awards Competition. The award ceremony was held at the BMICH yesterday (05 February 2025). The competition evaluated Financial Statements for the year 2024, incorporating the Auditor General’s opinion and organizational performance of statutory bodies, universities, research institutes, departments and ministries, provincial councils and local authorities.
The SLAF Standardized Financial Statements for the year 2024 were prepared in compliance with applicable public sector accounting standards and established government financial regulations while ensuring transparency, accountability and consistency in financial reporting.
The SLAF secured the Gold Award for the third consecutive time in the Central Government Department Category reflecting its effective utilization of airpower in ensuring national security. The event was graced by Mr. Nishantha Jayaweera, Honorable Deputy Minister of Economic Development. Representing the SLAF, Director General Administration, Air Vice Marshal Thushara Sirimanne, Director Internal Audit (Service) Group Captain Ranjith Somathilake and Flight Lieutenant HMSEB Herath received the award. Subsequently the award was formally presented to the Commander of the Air Force, Air Marshal Bandu Edirisinghe today (06 February 2026) at the Commander’s Office by Director General Administration, Air Vice Marshal Thushara Sirimanne, Director Internal Audit (Service) Group Captain Ranjith Somathilake along with other Officers and other ranks who contributed to the report.
