WARRIORPRENEURSHIP PROGRAMME STRENGTHENS TRANSITION PLANNING FOR SLAF MEMBERS

An introductory session on the Warriorpreneurship Programme was held today (12 February 2026) at Sri Lanka Air Force Headquarters under the supervision of the Directorate of Welfare. The programme forms part of ongoing efforts to support the transition of retiring Tri-Service personnel into civilian economic activities.

The initiative was conducted in coordination with the Office of the Deputy Minister of Defence and the Ministry of Industry and Entrepreneurship Development, under the guidance of Major General Aruna Jayasekara (Retd), Deputy Minister of Defence. It is intended to provide SLAF personnel approaching retirement with information on entrepreneurship, self-employment opportunities and related regulatory frameworks.

The technical session was delivered by Erandika Dissanayake, Director General of the Export Control Board and Director (Entrepreneurship Development) of the Ministry of Industry and Entrepreneurship Development, together with Dhanuka Abeythunga, Training Officer of the Small Enterprises Development Division. The presentation covered basic entrepreneurial concepts, regulatory requirements and available support mechanisms.

The event was attended by Director General Ground Operations, Air Vice Marshal Ruwan Chandima, senior officers and personnel from the SLAF and SL Navy, as well as representatives from the Office of the Deputy Minister of Defence and the Ministry of Industry and Entrepreneurship Development.
