SLAF LEADS MAJOR CLEAN-UP DRIVE AT ADAM’S PEAK UNDER ‘SAMANOLA SIRI HARITHA WANDANA – CLEANING SRI LANKA’ INITIATIVE

The SLAF successfully conducted a cleaning programme at Adam’s Peak on 19 February 2026 under the ‘Samanola Siri Haritha Wandana – Cleaning Sri Lanka’ project.

The programme was coordinated by the Commanding Officer of SLAF Station Piduruthalagala, Group Captain Chinthaka Jayasundara. A total of 290 SLAF personnel actively participated in the initiative.

The initiative drew participation from multiple SLAF establishments across the island, including SLAF Base Katunayake, SLAF Base Ratmalana, SLAF Trade Training School Ekala, SLAF Combat Training School Diyatalawa, SLAF Station Mirigama, SLAF Station Weerawila, SLAF Station Katukurunda, SLAF Station Bandaranaike International Airport and SLAF Detachment Mattala, reflecting a strong collective commitment to the cause.

The cleaning programme commenced from the Nallathanniya entrance via the Hatton route, covering the main pilgrimage pathway up to the summit of Adam’s Peak. In addition to the cleaning efforts, SLAF personnel transported water supplies along the route to the summit area to support participants and pilgrims.

The event was further strengthened by the participation of members of the Sri Lanka Army and Sri Lanka Navy, the Sri Lanka Police and volunteer community groups. 

Sri Lanka Air Force stands as the sole gallant aerial force in the nation, skillfully projecting airpower over its airspace and supporting the operations of surface entities.
