SLAF ATHLETES EXCEL AT THE 09TH CANOE SPRINT NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP
The 09th Canoe Sprint National Championship was held from 12 to 14 March 2026 at the rowing venue with the participation of leading canoeing and kayaking athletes in the country. Athletes representing the SLAF recorded notable performances during the championship, securing several medals across different events.
In the Open Women’s category, the SLAF Women’s team emerged as the Overall Champions, winning three gold and three bronze medals.
During the Open Women’s Kayaking events, Leading Aircraftwoman Madusani KWN secured gold medals in the K1 – 200m, 500m and 1000m events. Leading Aircraftwoman Jayasekara RLSW won bronze medals in the same events. Leading Aircraftwoman Madusani KWN was also adjudged the ‘Best Paddler' – Open Women at the championship.
In the Open Women’s category, the SLAF Women’s team emerged as the Overall Champions, winning three gold and three bronze medals.

In the Open Men’s Canoeing category, Leading Aircraftman Samarasinghe STPRS won gold medals in the C1 – 200m, 500m and 1000m events. Leading Aircraftman Samarasinghe STPRS was also recognized as the ‘Best Paddler’ – Open Men of the championship. In the U23 Men’s Canoeing category, Leading Aircraftman Milin KKM secured the gold medal in the C1 – 200m event.
