'SYMPHONY OF WINGS' MUSICAL EXTRAVAGANZA FLIES TO SUCCESS, RAISING FUNDS FOR SLAF SEVA VANITHA UNIT
‘Symphony of Wings’, an evening of entertainment organized by the Sri Lanka Air Force Seva Vanitha Unit, was held today (28 March 2026) at the Nelum Pokuna Mahinda Rajapaksa Theatre with great success.
The audience enjoyed a lively musical performance by the SLAF Rock Band, led by Squadron Leader Gayan Joseph, together with a group of well-known artists representing different eras of music, including Edward Jayakodi, Sujatha Aththanayake, Indrani Perera, Annesley Malewana, Keerthi Pasquel, Umariya Sinhawansa, Rajitha Rupasinghe, Dimanka Wellalage, Falen Andrea, Kanchana Anuradhi and Praneesha Thyagaraja, making it an engaging and memorable evening. Notably, all the artists contributed their performances free of charge in support of the cause.
The event was hosted by Wing Commander Radhika Ranaweera and Disna Yamuna Kumari. The head of the organizing committee, Director General Constructions Engineering, Air Vice Marshal Vajira Senadheera, led and oversaw the planning and execution of the event.
The event was also a fundraising effort in support of the welfare projects carried out by the SLAF Seva Vanitha Unit, highlighting its ongoing work in community support and charitable activities.
The occasion was attended by the Deputy Minister of Defence, Major General Aruna Jayasekara (Retd), and his spouse Mrs. Sujeewa Jayasekara, the Secretary to the Ministry of Defence, Air Vice Marshal Sampath Thuiyakontha (Retd), along with the Chairperson of the Ministry of Defence Seva Vanitha Unit, Dr. Rasika Perera.
Also present were past Commanders of the Air Force and their spouses, the Commander of the Air Force, Air Marshal Bandu Edirisinghe, together with the Chairperson of the SLAF Seva Vanitha Unit, Mrs. Krishanthi Edirisinghe. The Commanders of the Army and Navy, the Vice Chancellor of General Sir John Kotelawala Defence University, the Chief of Staff of the SLAF, members of the Air Force Board of Management, along with their ladies, as well as well-wishers and an audience of over 1,000, attended the event.
The success of the concert was supported by associated partners including TV Derana, Wijeya Newspapers Ltd and Tickets Ministry.
