SLAF CONDUCTS MASS BLOOD DONATION CAMPAIGN TO MARK 75TH ANNIVERSARY
A blood donation campaign was conducted today (23 April 2026) at Air Force Headquarters, in line with the 75th Anniversary of the Sri Lanka Air Force.
The programme was organized with the support of the Commander of the Sri Lanka Air Force, Air Marshal Bandu Edirisinghe and was attended by the Chief of Staff, Air Vice Marshal Lasitha Sumanaweera and the Director General Health Services, Air Vice Marshal (Dr.) Lalith Jayaweera. More than 200 service personnel voluntarily donated blood during the event.
The primary objective of the campaign was to support the national blood requirement while encouraging a sense of service and cooperation among personnel.
The programme was conducted in coordination with the National Blood Centre, Narahenpita. Medical teams from the National Blood Centre and SLAF Hospital Colombo facilitated the process, ensuring that all procedures were carried out in accordance with established medical standards and safety protocols. Donors were guided through registration, medical screening, donation and post-donation care in an organized manner.
