A four-member delegation from the Military Air Defence Academy of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation visited Air Force Headquarters today (23 April 2026).

The delegation was led by the Rector of the Military Air Defence Academy, Lieutenant General Gleb Voeremin, and included the Chair of the Department of SHORAD Systems, Colonel Nikolai I. Birko, the Head of the Faculty, Colonel Boris A. Tiunov and other officials.

The head of the delegation, Lieutenant General Gleb Voeremin, along with the members, was accompanied by the Military, Air and Naval Attaché of the Embassy of the Russian Federation in Sri Lanka, Colonel Sergei N. Beliankin, when they called on the Commander of the Air Force, Air Marshal Bandu Edirisinghe. Symbolic mementos were exchanged following cordial discussions to mark the occasion.

Subsequently, a knowledge-sharing session was conducted between the SLAF and the visiting delegation. The Director General Air Operations, Air Vice Marshal Dhammika Dias, the Director General Welfare, Air Vice Marshal Rajinth Jayewardene and other senior officers were present at the occasion.
