5TH EAGLES’ QUADRANGLE CUP DRAWS TO A CLOSE AT SIGIRIYA
The SLAF, in collaboration with Eagles’ Golf Links and Courses, successfully hosted the 5th edition of the Eagles’ Quadrangle Cup, which concluded today (14 June 2026). The inter-club golf tournament was held for the first time at Eagles’ Citadel Golf Course, Sigiriya, amidst the scenic surroundings of the region, renowned for its iconic Sigiriya Rock Fortress and rich cultural heritage. The tournament marked a significant milestone for the newly established golf course, providing participants with a unique golfing experience while further promoting Sigiriya as a distinguished destination for sports tourism.
The Commander of the Air Force, Air Marshal Bandu Edirisinghe, graced the tournament. The 5th edition of the Eagles’ Quadrangle Cup was mainly sponsored by JAT Holdings PLC. Browns EV (Pvt) Ltd and LOLC Finance served as the Automobile Partner, while Jetwing Hotels Ltd was the Hospitality Partner. NCG Holdings (Pvt) Ltd joined as the Transport Partner and TVS Lanka (Pvt) Ltd was the Motor Riding Partner. Supporting partners included Pro Golf and King Charters, collectively enhancing the glamour and scale of the tournament.
This year’s tournament featured spirited competition among four premier golf clubs in Sri Lanka: Eagles’ Golf Links, Royal Colombo Golf Club, Victoria Golf Resort and Nuwara Eliya Golf Club. Each team fielded 15 players, with a minimum of two female golfers per side. Final standings were based on the aggregate of the top ten individual scores from each team.
Royal Colombo Golf Club, led by Mr. Nishantha Perera, emerged victorious, clinching the coveted Eagles’ Quadrangle Cup trophy with the highest overall score.
In the individual categories, Mr. Ken De Alwis and Mr. Haroon Aslam claimed honours for Nearest to the Pin and Longest Drive respectively in the Gents’ Division. In the Ladies’ Division, Ms. Roshan Shyanthi Peries won Nearest to the Pin, while Ms. Sandra Cardien took the prize for Longest Drive. Mr. Nishantha Perera secured the Best Overall Gross Score Runner-Up award, while Ms. Pravina Dunuwille was named Best Overall Net Score Runner-Up. Mr. Haroon Aslam delivered an exceptional performance, claiming both the Best Overall Gross Score and Best Overall Net Score titles.
The tournament concluded with a vibrant awards ceremony at the venue, graced by Air Chief Marshal Kolitha Gunathilake. The event was also attended by Air Chief Marshal Kapila Jayampathi, Deputy Chief of Staff, Air Vice Marshal Gihan Seneviratne, members of the Air Force Board of Management, Founder and Managing Director of JAT Holdings PLC, Mr. Aelian Gunawardene, Chief Executive Officer of Browns EV (Pvt) Ltd and LOLC Finance, Mrs. Pavithra Jayasekara, Mr. Lakshmindra Ariyarathna, representing NCG Holdings (Pvt) Ltd, Mr. Rizmy Shariff, representing Pro Golf, Chairman of Air Force Golf, Air Commodore Erandika Gunewardene, Commanding Officer of SLAF Station Sigiriya, Group Captain Udara Andradi, Secretary of Air Force Golf, Wing Commander Thushan Fernando and other officials. Set against the majestic backdrop of Sigiriya, participants and guests departed with cherished memories from what was an exciting and memorable 5th edition of the Eagles’ Quadrangle Cup.
