SLAF TEAMS SECURE MULTIPLE AWARDS AT NCQP 2026
The SLAF secured three Gold Awards, one Silver Award and two Bronze Awards at the National Convention on Quality and Productivity (NCQP) 2026, organized by the Sri Lanka Association for the Advancement of Quality and Productivity (SLAAQP).
The convention was held at the Mount Lavinia Hotel, Colombo, yesterday (17 June 2026), bringing together over 400 teams representing a wide range of industries to present initiatives focused on quality improvement, productivity enhancement and innovation.
Competing under the Quality Control Circle and Quality Improvement Project (QIP) categories, six SLAF teams presented projects aimed at improving operational processes, efficiency and organizational performance. Based on the evaluations conducted by the judging panel, all six teams received awards.
The three Gold Award-winning Quality Control Circle (QCC) projects were presented by the Directorate of Constructions Engineering at Air Force Headquarters, the Cyber Operations Centre of the Information Technology Division at Air Force Headquarters and No. 07 Helicopter Squadron at SLAF Base Hingurakgoda.
The Silver Award-winning Quality Improvement Project (QIP) was presented by the Aircraft Support Wing of SLAF Base Ratmalana.
The two Bronze Award-winning Quality Improvement Projects (QIP) were presented by the Electronic and Telecommunication Engineering Wing of SLAF Base Katunayake and No. 02 Mechanical Transport Repair and Overhaul Wing of SLAF Base Vavuniya.
The convention organizers also announced that the Gold Award-winning teams have qualified to represent Sri Lanka at the International Convention on Quality Control Circles (ICQCC) 2026, scheduled to be held in Dhaka, Bangladesh, alongside participants from 14 countries across Asia.
