6TH PAKISTAN – SRI LANKA ARMED FORCES DEFENCE DIALOGUE CONCLUDED SUCCESSFULLY
The 6th Pakistan – Sri Lanka Armed Forces Defence Dialogue was held successfully today (03 July 2026) at the Navy Headquarters in the Defence Headquarters Complex.
The Commander of the Air Force, Air Marsha Bandu Edirisinghe attended the dialogue, together with senior officials from the defence establishments of both countries.
The dialogue was co-chaired by the Secretary to the Ministry of Defence of Sri Lanka, Air Vice Marshal Sampath Thuyacontha (Retd) and the Secretary of the Ministry of Defence of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, Lieutenant General (Retd) Muhammad Ali. Senior military officials and representatives from the Armed Forces and Ministries of Defence of both countries participated in the discussions.
The annual bilateral dialogue provided a platform to review ongoing defence cooperation and discuss possible areas for future collaboration. The discussions covered matters of mutual interest, including defence cooperation, military-to-military engagement, training and professional military education, maritime security, counterterrorism, capacity building and regional security.
The Pakistan High Commissioner to Sri Lanka, His Excellency Major General Nayyar Naseer (Retd), Additional Secretary (Defence), the Commander of the Navy, the Army Chief of Staff and senior officials of the Ministry of Defence, along with senior tri-service officers, were present at the occasion.
Senior SLAF officers who attended the dialogue included the Director General Air Operations, Air Vice Marshal Dhammika Dias, the Director General Training, Air Vice Marshal Thushara Weeraratne and the Director General General Engineering, Air Vice Marshal Prasanka Martino.
