SLAF CONDUCTS POTENTIAL COMPÈRES TRAINING PROGRAMME AT SLBC
The Media Division of the SLAF conducted a five-day Potential Compères Training Programme at the Sri Lanka Broadcasting Corporation (SLBC) from 06 to 10 July 2026 with the aim of enhancing the event-hosting and presentation skills of SLAF personnel.
The programme was conducted under the guidance of the Director of Research, Training and Foreign Relations of the SLBC, Mr. Indika Jayarathne, together with the Senior Organizer – Training, Mrs. Thushari Welagedara. Lectures and practical sessions were conducted by a panel of experienced resource persons comprising Ms. Asanka Gayani Weerasinghe, Mr. Prasanna Chandana Bandara, Mrs. Dinusha Weththasinghe, Mr. Wasantha Rohana, Mr. Amila Edirimanna, Mr. Palitha Jayathilake and Mr. Lahiru Kavinda.
The training programme covered a range of subjects including mass communication, media ethics, radio language, voice modulation, script writing, live programme compering, conducting ceremonies, presentation techniques and studio recording, providing participants with both theoretical knowledge and practical experience.
The closing ceremony of the programme was held at the SLBC with the Director of Research, Training and Foreign Relations, Mr. Indika Jayarathne, attending as the Chief Guest. The Director Media of the SLAF, Group Captain Nalin Wawakumbura, SLAF officials and officials of the Sri Lanka Broadcasting Corporation were also present on the occasion.
