PARACHUTE TRAINING SCHOOL AT SLAF REGIMENTAL TRAINING CENTRE AMPARA CELEBRATES 24TH ANNIVERSARY
The SLAF Parachute Training School, SLAF RTC Ampara proudly celebrated its 24th Anniversary today (15 July 2026). Initially, the Parachute Training School was established on 15 July 2002 at SLAF Base Katunayake in view of conducting Basic and Advanced parachute training for Officers, Airmen / Airwomen of SLAF, Sister Services and Special Task Force under the guidance of qualified instructors. Subsequently, Parachute Training School was shifted to SLAF Station Ampara on 10 May 2013 by expanding its capabilities and incorporating modern tactical and technical expertise to meet evolving operational demands.
The formation day celebration commenced with the working parade addressed by the Commanding Officer, Squadron Leader Viduranga Bandara while appreciating the dedication and active contribution rendered by former Commanding Officers and Instructors for the development of Parachute Training School during last 26 years.
In line with the anniversary, a Shramadana campaign was organized at Uhana, Maligathenna Rajamahamaha Viharaya. The celebrations concluded with a friendly volleyball tournament held at the School premises, with enthusiastic participation from Officers, Instructors and Trainees.
