GRADUATION CEREMONY OF NO. 82 JUNIOR COMMAND AND STAFF COURSE AT SLAF ACADEMY CHINA BAY
The Graduation Ceremony of the No. 82 Junior Command and Staff Course was held yesterday (10 August 2026) at the auditorium of the Junior Command and Staff College, SLAF Academy China Bay. The event marked the successful conclusion of a comprehensive 14 weeks academic programme, attended by 23 Officers from the Sri Lanka Air Force, two Officers from the Sri Lanka Army and two Officers from the Sri Lanka Navy.
The Deputy Chief of Staff, Air Vice Marshal Gihan Seneviratne graced the occasion as the chief guest.
In his address to the graduating Officers, Air Vice Marshal Gihan Seneviratne emphasized that the qualifications earned through the Junior Command and Staff Course should serve as a foundation for continued professional and personal development rather than merely as academic credentials. He noted that the course transforms Officers from focusing on individual performance to adopting a broader leadership perspective, enabling them to inspire and effectively lead their subordinates towards achieving organizational objectives. He further stressed the importance of intellectual adaptability, encouraging Officers to present reasoned arguments while remaining receptive to valid perspectives. This willingness to learn and adapt, he observed, should guide both their service and personal lives, while the knowledge and competencies gained should be applied to enhance the effectiveness of their respective formations.
The course conducted from 04 May 2026 to 10 August 2026 under the guidance of the Commandant Sri Lanka Air Force Academy China Bay Air Vice Marshal Amal Perera and the Commanding Officer Junior Command and Staff College Group Captain Tharanga Silva.
