COMMANDER OF THE AIR FORCE DECLARES OPEN SLAF STATION MATTALA
The Commander of the Air Force, Air Marshal Bandu Edirisinghe, officially declared open Sri Lanka Air Force Station Mattala on 02 October 2026. Upon his arrival, the Commander was warmly welcomed by the inaugural Commanding Officer, Group Captain Kalum Wimalarathne, and accorded a street lining ceremony.
During the visit, the Commander inspected the land identified for the proposed establishment of a new Air Base, reviewing the area earmarked for future development.
Addressing the personnel, the Commander commended their dedication and commitment to maintaining discipline, professionalism and high standards of service. He further highlighted that such commitment plays a vital role in upholding the reputation of the Sri Lanka Air Force while contributing to the progress and development of the nation.
