An eye clinic for the civil employees at SLAF Base Katunayake was held on 21st September 2011 at SLAF Base Katunayake Hospital premises.
    
This was organized under the patronage of the Chairperson of SLAF Seva Vanitha Unit on a request made by Mrs. BV Mallika, Civil Superintendent of Establishment of SLAF Base Katunayake.

Approximately 400 civil employees participated in the eye clinic. Dr. Sujatha Pathirana, Consultant Eye Surgeon conducted the eye clinic with the assistance of SLAF medical officers and optometrists of SLAF.

Mrs Neelika Abeywickrema chairperson of SLAF Seva Vanitha Unit, Wg Cdr LR Jayaweera Commanding Officer SLAF Base Katunayake Hospital, Dr. Sujatha Pathirana Consultant Eye Surgeon, Sqn Ldr Nadeera Thanthrige Assistant Secretary SLAF Seva Vanitha Unit, Mrs. BV Mallika, Civil Superintendent of Establishment of SLAF Base Katunayake were present at the inauguration ceremony of the clinic.

The SLAF Seva Vanitha Unit has further arranged to distribute spectacles for the patients prescribed to wear spectacles at the eye clinic.
