The 13th additional contingent ,comprising of 44 SLAF troops scheduled to be deployed in Haiti completed their training at the United Nations Peace Keeping Operations (UNPKO) Training Center of the Sri Lanka Army in Kukuleganga  and passed out on the 19th Dec 11 at Regimental Head Quarters Armoured Corps ,Rock house Camp Modara . These SLAF personnel who are from a number of trades in the Air Force will be deployed along with the SL Army and Navy personnel under the UN banner.

They were trained in Traffic Control Operations, Civil Disorder Management, Disarmament/ Demobilization and Reintegration/ Cordon and Search Operations, Convoy operations/ Patrolling and Improvised Explosive Device Detection and Defusing.

They were  also educated about the United Nations, its mandate, the Rules of engagement, present situation in Haiti, cultural differences, International Humanitarian Law and Human Resources Management, HIV/AIDS, Sexual Exploitation, UN Log system, UN provost duties, experienced in Haiti, Creole  language and stress management etc.

Wing Commander MPS Manapperuma commands the SLAF contingent whilst Squadron LDRP Gunawardana and forty two Other Ranks comprise the rest of the SLAF contingent.
