Hospitality Management School Conducts 'Train the Trainer' Programme

Under the guidance of the Director of Logistics of SLAF, Air Vice Marshal WMKSP Weerasinghe and under the supervision of the Director Training, Air Vice Marshal MDAP Payoe a “Train the Trainer” Specialized English Language Training Programme was conducted for the Logistics Instructors at the Hospitality Management School at Sri Lanka Air Force Station, Sigiriya. The one month training programme was conducted from 6 Jul 2020 to 5 Aug 2020 and aimed at developing a competent and confident trade instructor who optimizes the benefits of the English language in performing their trade instructional duties.

This course was delivered through 4 Modules which contains Communication Skill Development, Essential Grammar Prerequisites, Language Skill Development and Teaching Practices in order to enrich the instructor’s English language competency in different aspects.

Squadron Leader PMTU Bandara, the English Instructor of the Hospitality Management School provided a great encouragement to the trainees as the course facilitator and Group Captain Thushara Fernando, Group Captain Saman Dasanayaka and Flight Lieutenant Arosh Rajapakshe conducted lectures on specific subject areas as visiting lecturers for the training programme. Throughout the course, a communication link was maintained with the Language Cell of SLAF TTS Eka via an on-line video conferencing platform.

The ‘Certificates Awarding Ceremony’ of the training programme was conducted on 6 Aug 2020 at the Hospitality Management School and the acting Commanding Officer of Sri Lanka Air Force Station Sigiriya, Group Captain Harsha Nanayakkara graced the occasion as the Chief Guest. The Officer Commanding Logistics of SLAF Base Hingurakgoda, Wing Commander RMDI Ranadewa also participated for the event representing the Directorate of Logistics along with the Chief Instructor of the Hospitality Management School, Wing Commander Buddhika Kularatne, Officers and Other Ranks of the Station. 17 trade instructors of the Logistics Branch were awarded the certificates at this event.
