SLAF Conducts Drone Operations to Assist the Dengue Eradication Programme
With the spread of the Dengue Virus which is still on the rise, the majority of cases are being reported from the Western Province. Accordingly, a request was made by the Governor of the Western Province, Marshal of the Sri Lanka Air Force Roshan Goonetileke to the Sri Lanka Air Force to carry out drone operations in order to locate possible dengue mosquito breeding areas.
As a result, the SLAF in collaboration with health authorities in Colombo carried out drone operations in the Western Province covering Wellawaththa, Wadduwa, Biyagama BOI Zone, Wathupitiwala, Obeysekarapura, Rajagiriya, Peliyagoda, Kelaniya, Kolonnawa and Piliyandala.
