During the ribbon-cutting ceremony marking the official opening, the drone, Vimana S II, indigenously invented by the Aeronautical Research and Development Wing, SLAF Station Katukurunda flew in carrying the ceremonial tool for the occasion. This unique gesture symbolized the fusion of tradition with cutting-edge technology and highlighted Sri Lanka’s growing capabilities in aerospace innovation.
At the exhibition, a separate stall was allocated for the SLAF to display indigenously developed innovations. These included the Lihiniya UAV, Bell 412/212 Annunciator Tester, Virtual Firearms Simulator and Training System and a Plastic Shredder Machine designed for effective waste management.
The exhibition will continue until 27 April 2025, providing visitors with a unique opportunity to witness and engage with Sri Lanka’s innovative spirit.
