COMMANDER DECLARED OPEN THE MODERNIZED EAGLES SKYLINK COMPLEX
The refurbished ‘Eagles Skylink’ at Guwanpura was ceremonially declared open under the auspices of the Commander of the Air Force, Air Marshal Bandu Edirisinghe today (29 August 2025), marking another significant milestone in the continuous enhancement of welfare and recreational facilities of the SLAF.
The refurbishment project commenced in October 2024 and was successfully completed within a span of ten months, under the strategic guidance of the Commander of the Air Force and the close supervision of the Director General Construction Engineering, Air Vice Marshal Vajira Senadheera.
The upgraded ‘Eagles Skylink’ complex now houses the Office for the Retired Air Force Officers’ Association, the Office Complex for the Ex-Servicemen’s Association, a fully-fledged Sports Medicine Unit providing specialized facilities for Air Force sports personnel and an expanded gymnasium with improved training and fitness amenities. These additions are designed to benefit both serving and retired personnel of the SLAF, as well as their families, by creating a centralized hub for wellness, sports and professional associations.
The event was attended by Chief of Staff, Air Vice Marshal Lasitha Sumanaweera, Deputy Chief Staff, Air Vice Marshal Damian Weerasinghe, members of the Air Force Board of Management, Commanding Officer SLAF Station Sri Jayewardenepura, Air Commodore Buddika Piyasiri, representatives of the Retired Air Force Officers’ Association and the Ex-Servicemen’s Association.
