COMMANDER ATTENDS INDIA–SRI LANKA DEFENCE INDUSTRY SEMINAR
The Commander of the Air Force, Air Marshal Bandu Edirisinghe, attended the India–Sri Lanka Defence Industry Seminar held today (25 March 2026) at the Taj Samudra Hotel in Colombo. The event was graced by the Secretary to the Ministry of Defence, Air Vice Marshal Sampath Thuyacontha (Retd), as the chief guest.
The third edition of the seminar is organized by the Indian High Commission under the theme “Identifying New Opportunities and Forging New Bonds.” Upon the arrival, the Secretary to the Ministry of Defence was warmly received by the Indian High Commissioner, His Excellency Santosh Jha.
During the address, the Chief Guest highlighted the enduring Indo–Sri Lanka partnership, built on mutual trust and shared security interests. He noted that India’s rapidly advancing defence manufacturing sector presents valuable opportunities for Sri Lanka. Access to reliable, cost-effective technologies, along with prospects for training, technology transfer, and joint ventures, could enhance Sri Lanka’s operational readiness while strengthening long-term strategic cooperation between the two nations.
The seminar was attended by the Commanders of the Army and Navy, Chief of Staff of the Air Force, Air Vice Marshal Lasitha Sumanaweera, members of the Air Force Board of Management, senior military officers, Indian High Commission officials, industry experts and other state officials.
