SLAF BAND PERFORMS AT JOINT MILITARY BAND CONCERT COMMEMORATING THE 250TH NATIONAL DAY OF THE UNITED STATES
The SLAF Band participated in a joint military band concert organized by the Embassy of the United States in Sri Lanka yesterday (30 June 2026) at Havelock City Mall, in conjunction with the celebrations marking the 250th National Day of the United States of America.
The concert featured performances by the Brass Quintet of the United States Marines III Marine Expeditionary Force (III MEF) Band, together with the military bands of the Sri Lanka Army, Sri Lanka Navy and Sri Lanka Air Force. The event, which was free and open to the public, attracted a large gathering of local and foreign visitors, offering them an exceptional musical experience.
The Director Performing Arts of the SLAF, Air Commodore Sanjaya Vithana, attended the event as the senior-most representative of the SLAF, alongside the Directors of Performing Arts of the sister Services. The SLAF Band was led by Squadron Leader Gayan Joseph, Commanding Officer of the Performing Arts Wing. The concert also marked a significant milestone as the first public military band performance held in Sri Lanka after a hiatus of nearly six years.
