The Handing Over/Taking Over Parade of SLAF Station Mirigama was held on 22 July 2021 where the outgoing Commanding Officer, Group Captain K A P S Kuruwita 'Msc (Strat Stu)', 'fawc' handed over the command to Group Captain S A P T Piyarathne RSP, USP, MMS (Mil Com - PRC), BSc (Def Stu) in Mgt (Hons), psc.

The new Commanding Officer, Group Captain S A P T Piyarathne held the appointment of Commanding Officer, No 2 Heavy Transport Squadron at SLAF Base Katunayake before being appointed to command SLAF Station Mirigama. The outgoing Commanding Officer, will be assuming command of SLAF Base Hingurakgoda on a subsequent date.
