The Indian Air Force (IAF) C‑130J aircraft landed at Katunayake this evening (30 November 2025), carrying two BHISHM Cubes and a five-member medical team led by Wing Commander Sanjay Kumar.

BHISHM Cubes are modular, self-contained medical units designed for rapid deployment in disaster-affected or remote areas. Each Cube is equipped to provide emergency medical care, including trauma management, basic surgery and life-support facilities, enabling immediate humanitarian and relief operations.

The visiting IAF medical team will support disaster relief efforts for communities affected by Cyclone Ditwa. Upon completion of these operations, they will conduct training for Sri Lankan medical professionals on the operation and use of the BHISHM Cubes. Thereafter, the two BHISHM Cubes will be officially donated to Sri Lanka to strengthen the nation’s disaster preparedness and emergency response capabilities.
