The SLAF Men’s and Women’s Taekwondo teams emerged as ‘Overall Champions' at the National Taekwondo Championship 2026, held at the Wathupitiwala Indoor Sports Complex, Nittambuwa, from 23 to 25 January 2026.

The championship was graced by Her Excellency Miyon Lee, Ambassador of the Republic of Korea to Sri Lanka, as the Chief Guest, along with Mr. Chaminda Punchihewa, Chairman and Mr. KACRS Alahakoon, Secretary of the Sri Lanka Taekwondo Federation.

Competing in 16 events, the SLAF Taekwondo team delivered an outstanding performance, securing seven Gold Medals and four Bronze Medals, thereby clinching the overall championship.

The SLAF Taekwondo team was established in 2011 under the leadership of Air Vice Marshal Sagara Kotakadeniya as its first Chairman. At present, the team functions under the guidance of Air Vice Marshal Thushara Sirimanne, Chairman of SLAF Taekwondo, with Group Captain MWCM Wakista serving as the Secretary of SLAF Taekwondo.
